Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) has announced a shift in the distribution activities of VH1 in Romania effective January 1, 2014, following the expiry of a contract with CME.
From this January, Tematic Cable will represent the channel, which will continue to operate unchanged.
Tematic Channel will also represent the VIMN channels Comedy Central Extra and Nickelodeon, which have recently been introduced into Romania following a deal with RCS&RDS.
Thematic Channels will meanwhile be responsible for the channels’ ad-sales activities. VIMN says it will be launching more channels in Romania in 2014.
Commenting on these developments, Bartosz Witak, VIMN’s general manager, CEE and Israel, said: “Romania has growing importance in the region, and this, along with our current local portfolio, allows us to provide content for an age group as wide as 4 to 49, extending from Nickelodeon, which is already the leading kids channel in several countries of the region, to quality music channels. However, we do not wish to stop there and we have a lot of plans to execute in Romania throughout 2014.”
