German cable network operator Kabel Deutschland is rolling out more public WiFi hotspots across the country.
The public hot spots offer a free 30-minute window for everyone, but Kabel Deutschland customer get unlimited 24/7 access to these hot spots.
The cabler is installing dedicated hot spots in various city centres – unlike the system used by Dutch cable operators UPC and Ziggo, who turn home gateways into public hot spots.
Kabel Deutschland has activated four hot spots in Celle, and Saarbrücken; five in Chemnitz; six in Göttingen, and Magdeburg; eight in Dresden, Trier and Braunschweig; nine hotspots in Osnabrück; ten in Landau, Kiel, and Oldenburg; and Lübeck; 11 in Erfurt; 15 in Bremen, 16 in Hannover; and no less than 62 in Hamburg.
