Russia’s Tricolor TV is now the largest pay-TV operator in Europe in terms of subscriber numbers.
Local reports say that it secured its 10 millionth paying customer on December 15, placing it ahead of both BSkyB and Sky Italia.
At the same time, Tricolor TV’s total subscriber base is now rapidly approaching 14 million, with the current figure at 13.995 million, which also places it in top spot in terms of overall customers.
Tricolor TV’s take-up has been boosted by the introduction of HD channels and eight programme packages.
It has gained 1.9 million new customers this year alone, 1.2 million of who are receiving pay services.
Separately, Tricolor TV has made the HD version Channel One available to its subscribers in Siberia.
