The amount paid by Canal Plus to support the content creation industry is to be reduced to the tune of €10 million.
Canal will still pay €100 million of the levy known as TST directly to the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée (CNC).
Les Echos reported that the move met with strong parliamentary support, but other channels have not been so taken by the largesse of Patrick Bloche, chairman of the cultural affairs committee.
In a related move it was proposed the amount paid by commercial channels TF1 and M6 would reduce significantly, following a letter written in the summer to the prime minister.
However, the government rejected the amendment that would have seen a decrease of between 4 and 5.5% of sales.
