Sherin Salvetti has been appointed MD of A+E Networks Italy.
Based in Rome, she will report to Dean Possenniskie, MD, Europe, A+E Networks, and be responsible for all channel operations including programming and production, marketing, sales activities, digital and broadcast operations.
Commenting on the appointment, Possenniskie said: “Sherin is a 25-year industry veteran with a unique understanding of the Italian TV landscape, and we’re thrilled to have her at the helm of our first wholly owned operation in Europe. Sherin’s passion for content and knowledge of A+E’s brands make her best placed to manage A+E Networks’ growth in this vital market.”
A+E Networks Italy will launch Crime + Investigation (CI) on Sky Italia on December 16 and has announced plans to assume full ownership of HISTORY in Italy from Fox International Channels (FIC) in early 2014.
Salvetti said: “It’s a great honour to lead A+E Networks Italy. HISTORY has grown into the top prime-time factual channel on SKY, and I have every confidence that CI, Italy’s first real crime channel, will be equally successful. Further, I look forward to leading the local team in creating the full portfolio of A+E brands in Italy.”
Salvetti is currently SVP, Factual and Channel Services Fox International Channels Italy, where she manages a number of brands including HISTORY, the National Geographic Channels bouquet (National Geographic Channel HD, Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo Adventure) and Baby TV.
Prior to joining FIC, she programming and production positions at the Italian public broadcaster RAI.
