Russia’s leading DTH platform Tricolor TV will be one of the main beneficiaries of the new Express-AT1 satellite, located at 56 degrees East.
In a statement, quoting official information from FSUE (Satellite Communications), it adds that both Express-AT1 and Express-AT2 are scheduled to launch on March 4, 2014, with the former significantly expanding Tricolor TV’s coverage in Siberia.
Indeed, the company will be able to triple the size of its Siberian package and also add catch-up TV to its offer.
Viewers will in addition be able to receive Tricolor TV’s first HD multiplex, containing 25 channels in the format, along with the proprietary SuperKino HD.
The Bonum-1 satellite will continue to operate until February 2014 and DirecTV-1R until Express-AT1 is fully operational.
However, FSUE also has backup plans in place on DirecTV-1R in the event of any problems.
