The Top 3 shows on Sky in October were for the second month running commissioned by Sky itself.
Karl Pilkington, sometime Ricky Gervais associate, topped the list with his Sky 1 travelogue, The Moaning of Life, with 2.45 million viewers, followed by Dracula (Sky Living, 1.83 million) and A League of Their Own (Sky 1) on 1.53 million.
In a blogpost Stuart Murphy, director, entertainment channels had praise for the reworking of Denmark’s The Bridge into the Anglo-French The Tunnel (Sky Atlantic, 1.52 million), a co-production with Canal Plus and NBC. Murphy said such shows realise a vision for shows that are increasingly bigger than what people get on free-TV.
“The Tunnel was also big hit with Sky customers, with over 1.5 million viewers catching the series launch episode, making it the fifth most popular show last month. In addition, more than 100,000 downloaded the opening episode of The Tunnel to their Sky+HD box, with a further 100,000 watching on the move with our mobile TV service Sky Go.”
US import Elementary was the sixth most popular show during October, attracting a total audience of 1.4 million, with Arrow just behind it in seventh, with 1.3 million.
