Enex, the international news provider, has appointed journalist Mark Evans (46) as its head of news, effective immediately.
In this function, Evans will be in charge of the entire Enex news output, above all the Enex News Service, Live Service and Special Productions, and will report to Henning Tewes, Managing Director of Enex.
Henning Tewes said: “The creation of this new role underlines Enex’s ambition for further growth in the global news content arena. Mark is a highly experienced journalist with profound expertise in breaking news. We are all delighted to have him on board.”
Mark Evans added: “There is a team of very talented people here at Enex and the company has the best global broadcast partners in the business. Everything will be built on journalistic excellence, speed and accuracy. Every player in broadcast and digital journalism faces new challenges resulting from rapidly changing media technology and economic uncertainty, but Enex clearly has massive potential for further growth.”
Evans previously worked at Sky News for more than 11 years, most recently as Head of UK News. During this time he and his team won a number of prizes, including two Royal Television Society Awards and an International Emmy for Sky’s coverage of the London suicide bombings in 2005. Prior to moving into television, Evans had spent more than a decade in newspapers on regional and national news desks and travelling across Europe as a reporter.
