Romtelecom has been fined RON300,000 (€67,175) by the regulator Ancom for failing to use frequencies awarded to it in September 2008.
According to the Romanian regulator, the frequencies are in the 410-415/420-425 MHz bands and can be employed for the provision of electronic communications and mobile services.
Although these are principally reserved for voice, data and specific services, they can optionally also include video applications.
On being awarded the frequencies, Romtelecom had guaranteed to cover 90.05% of the territory of Romania with their signals.
Romtelecom is one of the top three providers of pay-TV services in Romania, competing directly RCS&RDS (Digi) and UPC.
