Shazam now accounts for one in seven music sales globally and has a presence in 200 countries.
All told, according to Miles Lewis, VP European sales, Shazam Entertainment, it has 375 million users, 75 million of who are active each month.
Its users are found in all age groups and the company’s core business remains music, with over 15 million tags a day and 30 million tracks in its database.
Lewis said that its “formula” is to be “simple, relevant and flexible”, with the press of just one button.
He also said that Shazam now sees itself as a media engagement company.
Shazam has been present in the TV industry and advertising since securing $32 million in funding in June 2011 from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Institutional Venture Partners and DN Capital.
