The Czech PPF Group is reported to be interested in acquiring a minority (49%) stake in Slovak Telekom.
However, according to E15, Deutsche Telekom, which already owns 51% of the telco, has first option on the stake, which is currently held by the Ministry of Economy (34%) and National Property Fund of Slovakia (15%).
The Slovak government has already announced its desire to sell the stake, which could fetch €600 million – €800 million, but has yet to hear from Deutsche Telekom if it will exercise its right.
PPF Group acquired a 65.9% in Telefónica O2 Czech Republic for €2,467 million earlier this month.
The deal included assets in Slovakia, among them the mobile operator Telefónica Slovakia.
