Austria’s public broadcaster ORF is launching its on-demand platform ORFTVthek on HbbTV on Monday, November 18.
The service will be available on all platforms, terrestrial (DVB-T and DVB-T2), satellite and cable.
Although the broadcaster is emphasising its on-demand service, the new HbbTV service will also include weather forecasts and live weather cams and other information services.
The ORF-TVthek was launched in 2009, initially for PCs only. In 2011, the broadcaster launched a large screen version which is now available on Apple TV, LG Smart TV and Samsung Smart TV.
Cable and IPTV operators A1-TV, UPC, Liwest, Salzburg AG and Kabelplus also offer the ORF-TVthek.
In order to receive the HbbTV service, viewers need to have a HbbTV equipped TV, which is connected to the internet.
