The activities of YouTube, as well as the possible entry of Netflix, into the Polish market are unlikely to deflect from the online strategy of the Polish national commercial broadcaster TVN.
Speaking to Rzeczpospolita, Markus Tellenbach, the president of the TVN Group, said that its on demand service TVN Player will continue to only show TV’s own productions and not aggregate others.
Asked specifically about Netflix, he said that its possible entry into Poland had been a topic of discussion for the last two years but he had no knowledge about it.
Tellenbach also ruled out the possibility of a Polish company investing in the financially troubled CME.
CME was one of joined founders of TVN in the 1990s but subsequently left the Polish market.
It currently has broadcast interests in six CEE countries.
