NPO, the umbrella organisation of the Dutch public broadcasters, will launch a premium VOD service on a subscription basis.
Called NPO Plus the new service will launch in early 2014 and will offer unlimited access to more content than the current free catch-up TV service Uitzending Gemist.
The NPO promises ‘less advertising and a better video quality’ for NPO Plus, which will become available on various platforms as well as directly on smart TVs.
Content will include acquired programming such as Africa, Frozen Planet and Earthflight from the BBC as well as TV series including Midsomer Murders, Wallander, Banks and Scott and Bailey.
Also included are theatrical movies such as Slumdog Millionaire, The Artist, Les Intouchables, Midnight in Paris and Jagten.
