The launch of BT Sport has eaten into the profits of the UK’s leading platforms, says Enders Analysis.
In a note on Virgin Media’s financials issued earlier this week, Enders said net additions at the cable net had not been as strong as last year when DSL competitors were weakened by supply constraints, however there was little sign of a substantial impact from BT Sport or TalkTalk and BT’s YouView-based TV offerings
“BT’s foray into sport has however had an effect on profitability, as it has with BT itself and Sky, with Virgin Media’s premium content costs rising from both BT and Sky,” said Enders.
TalkTalk will publish its figures next week.
