Wuaki.tv partners with Panasonic smart TVs

October 25, 2013 09.28 Europe/London By Robert Briel

wuaki_tvWuaki.tv, has entered into a partnership with Panasonic that makes the service available directly through Panasonic smart TVs.

Wuaki.tv believes a seamless integration with smart TVs is essential for the UK market; over 70% of users in the company’s home market of Spain watch movies and TV shows through a smart TV.

The Panasonic smart TV app joins Wuaki.tv’s existing range of tablets apps for iPad, Android and Kobo devices, the Xbox Live service and additional smart TV brands. Wuaki.tv will soon be adding more Smart TV apps, aiming to make the service available to all Smart TV users.

“Since we started Wuaki.tv in 2009 there’s been an upswing in the number of Smart TVs in the living room, and for Wuaki.tv traffic from these is far outstripping tablets and laptops” comments Jacinto Roca, Founder and CEO of Wuaki.tv.

“Over 70% of our users in Spain regularly stream movies and TV shows to a Smart TV, and we’re going to see the same in the UK. This is why we’re expanding our Smart TV footprint in the UK. Many of these users may also watch Wuaki.tv ‘on the go’ on a tablet, or in another room through their games console or laptop. That said, we see a strong trend of people being fully comfortable watching TV on-demand in place of traditional scheduled TV. That’s where the biggest growth will be in the immediate future.”

The Wuaki.tv Panasonic smart TV app will be available on 2012 and 2013 Smart Viera TVs. A Wuaki Selection subscription is priced at £4.99 per month for a limited period.
