Pace signs Altibox agreement

October 25, 2013 11.32 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Pace has agreed a major technology agreement with Norwegian IPTV provider Altibox.

The company says it will invest tens of millions of Euros over the next three years in enhancements to its network and service. Pace will provide Altibox with its next generation of set-top boxes along with service management and system integration.

“Tomorrow’s TV world will be seamless, faster and smarter, and with the combined expertise of Pace and ourselves, we will develop the next generation of TV and internet services, with fibre-optics at their core,” says Altibox’s CEO Nils Arne Bakke, adding “As Norway’s leading fibre-optic network provider, our competence in IP-based entertainment services and cutting edge 1 Gbits (gigabit) infrastructure means we can give our customers these new services and the best experience”.

Bakke said there were already plans for set-tops running ten times faster than the current generation and wireless connectivity within units around the home.
