A competition for a slot vacated on Russia’s second DTT multiplex by Sport, a channel operated by the state broadcaster RTR, will take place on December 18.
According to AKTR and ComNews, it is being organised by Roscomnadzor, which is inviting bids until November 18.
The winner of the contest will be required to broadcast around the clock and allocate at least 55% of its airtime to domestically produced programming.
They will also have to pay a one-off fee of R36 million (€825,650), along with a participation fee equivalent to 2% of this.
Roscomnadzor initially announced 10 winners of a contest for a slot on the second multiplex last year. It is not clear why RTR decided to remove Sport from the line-up.
Russia is expected to complete the transition to digital broadcasting in 2015.
