The Russian DTH platform Orion Express is preparing to expand its activities to other parts of the CIS.
According to Vedomosti, it is targeting Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and the Caucus region.
Orion Express is currently the fastest growing pay-TV operation in Russia, ended the first half of this year with 81% more subscribers than at the same period in 2012.
This compared to an average market growth of 13%.
Vedomosti notes that Russian companies have until now been reluctant to expand their pay-TV operations abroad, with the only exceptions being in Ukraine, where NTV-Plus and MTS are present, and Belarus, where Akado owns 50% of Cosmos TV.
The GS Group, which is understood to have ownership links to Tricolor TV, Russia’s leading DTH platform, is also present in Cambodia through One TV.
