Consolidation of the cable sector in French-speaking Belgium could happen following a bid by Numericable for Brutélé.
Brutélé serves six municipalities in Brussels as well as the city of Charleroi and environs. Numericable is active in Brussels after acquiring the former Coditel network.
At the moment Brutélé and Liege-based cable operator Tecteo also own VOO, the marketing company that sells triple play products on most cable networks in French-speaking Belgium.
Merger discussions between Brutélé and Tecteo have been going on for some time without any concrete results and now Numericable said it is interested in acquiring the Brussels networks of Brutélé, but would also be interested in pursuing further consolidation in the market.
According to unconfirmed local press reports, the bid is in the region of €65 million.
