The Hungarian electronic communications market has undergone dramatic changes in the last few years, with digital cable and IPTV services being among the main beneficiaries.
Indeed, according to Aranyosné Börcs Janka, chief director of the regulator NMHH, the latter have seen their reach grow from 17% to 30% in only the last few years.
Bundled services are also now very popular, being received by over 50% of subscribers.
In the broadband sector, fixed-line services can now be received by 98% of Hungarians, while the availability of next generation services is higher than the EU average.
On the other hand, penetration is lower than it should be. What is more, while DSL is still dominant in Europe as a whole, it has been overtaken by cable in Hungary.
