Elemental Technologies has announced a clutch of customer wins for its multiscreen video services.
Among them the Swiss over the top provider Wilmaa, which plans to scale its Elemental Live deployment to support several hundred channels in the future for its TV service.
In a model similar to Hulu’s video service, Wilmaa enables viewers in Switzerland to watch TV from national and international broadcasters online. The service is accessible via web browser, Android and iPhone smartphones as well as tablet devices. Wilmaa makes a number of advanced personalised viewing options, such as DVR and Catch-up TV, available to subscribers for a low monthly fee.
This autumn Wilmaa will launch its own set-top box.
In Australia, Sydney-based OTT retailer Access Digital Entertainment has used Elemental Cloud to launch ezyflix.tv, Australia’s first UltraViolet-enabled video-on-demand and electronic sell-through service for connected devices. Access Digital Entertainment plans to use Elemental Cloud to expand its streaming services across Europe with the launch of WowHD.tv later in 2013.
“We give people an unprecedented content viewing and sharing experience — but without the complexities of other services. And we’re doing it in a way that satisfies the stringent content protection requirements of studios and networks,” said Craig White, CEO of Access Digital Entertainment.
It was also announced that Elemental Server and Elemental Conductor are providing file transcoding and system management for the Telefónica Global Video Platform (GVP) video-on-demand (VOD) network.
Elemental systems accelerate file conversion for Telefónica video entertainment services, including authenticated over-the-top (OTT) content to Android, Apple or Windows mobile devices and connected TVs from Samsung and LG, and simultaneously to Microsoft Media Room set-top boxes.
