Spanish public broadcaster RTVE has launched a new Red Button service based on HbbTV. Botón Rojo made its debut last Thursday with over 90,000 hours of TVE programmes, news, sports and scheduling information.
The broadcaster estimates that over one million Spaniards can already access the service, available over any RTVE channel, through Smart TVs and other connected receivers.
There are plans to offer instant background information related to current broadcasts and updates of the latest news. Shows, such as the popular MasterChef will invite viewers to vote for a favorite contestant, while opinions can be given on current affairs and entertainment shows.
