September 9, 2013 12.15 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Thomas Van den DriesscheThomas Van den Driessche has been appointed Newtec’s new CCO and will lead Newtec’s global sales team.

He will also remain responsible for the company’s marketing strategy.

Having joined Newtec as a Regional Sales Director for Europe in 2007 and after holding several positions in the company since then, including VP Market Strategy, Van den Driessche brings his vast experience in sales, marketing and management to the role. He will work closely with the Regional Sales VP’s for EMEIA, Americas, and Asia.

“I have eagerly accepted this challenge as these are exciting times for Newtec. We are transitioning from a ’medium size satcom vendor’ to one of the major satellite technology players. I am sure that there will be great opportunities ahead for Newtec to continue to lead the satellite industry with the development of innovative technologies enabling our customers to achieve their business objectives,” said Thomas Van den Driessche.

Newtec is also increasing its local presence by extending the commercial team after numerous successful opportunities in South America. Newtec’s São Paulo office, under the lead of Bart Van Utterbeeck, will be further strengthened and will report directly to Thomas.

Serge Van Herck, CEO of Newtec, said: “With an increasing Newtec product portfolio and a growing customer and partner base, comes a growing need to strengthen the leadership of our global commercial team. I am confident that Thomas will lead our worldwide sales team with flair and bring lots of success to Newtec, our partners and customers.”
