SES Stand 1.B51. Global satellite operator SES will be showcasing the latest SAT-IP and 4K technology.
With these technological advances in the satellite broadcasting industry with ‘Ultra HD’ (4K not yet 8K, DK) and SAT>IP initiatives, SES is trying to fulfill a role as catalyst to ensure satellite continues to be an important infrastructure for TV broadcasting as we step into a world of multi-screens in the next decade.
SES will also use IBC to promote the global reach offered by its fleet of satellites, in which SES has been making significant investments, in the last few years. Expanding its regional teams in emerging markets, it believes 2013 is the year it begins to reap the benefits of this strategy seeing an increase in its global TV households and ‘an escalating surge in mobility and corporate networks in these (emerging) markets’. SES will be sharing future plans for growth in these dynamic regions at IBC this year.
As every year, SES will be hosting a series of Briefing Sessions, this time at VIP Balcony Suite BM10/BM11. Key topics are again 4K, Broadband Services over Satellite, SAT>IP: Satellite TV on every IP device, even directly from the IP-LNP, located at the satellite dish, and reaching audiences in Africa, Asia or Eastern Europe.
