NBCUniversal International Television Distribution has appointed Rhys Beer to the newly created position of VP, Sports Distribution & Business Development.
In this role, he will be responsible for leading and implementing growth opportunities and revenue generation through the sales of NBCUniversal’s existing sports programming, developing a strategy to grow its sports rights portfolio and grow its syndication business.
Beer will in addition identify strategic partnerships outside North America. Beer has joined NBCUniversal from the sports media agency Perform Group, where he was commercial director and handled rights acquisition and distribution of a broad range of content and services to the global media sector.
Prior to that, he held positions at the English Football Association, Setanta Sports Group and Virgin Media.
Beer is based in London and will report to Don McGregor, executive VP, International Television Distribution.
