The Greek alternative telco Hellas on Line (HOL) ended the second quarter with an IPTV offer consisting of 31 channels, or seven more than at the start of the year.
At the same time, its on demand service hol video club consisted of over 3,500 movies, shows and children’s series, making it, according to the company, the richest one in Greece.
HOL launched its IPTV service hol my tv in 2009 and the latest channels to join its line-up were Food Network, Outdoor Channel HD (for the first time in Greece), BBC World News, History Channel, cMusic, TV5 Monde and World Fashion.
Although HOL does not provide a subscriber figure for hol my tv in its results release, it says that its total LLU customer base at the end of H1 stood at 509,287, or 4.5% more than a year earlier, giving it a market share of 27.5%.
LLU net additions in Q2 and H1 stood at 63% and 30% respectively. Investments in H1 amounted to €16.2 million, bringing the total to €420.5 million since the beginning of 2006, and the company now has a 5,000km+ fibre-optic network.
Although HOL saw an 8.1% fall in revenues in H1, it had a net profit of €2 million, compared to a loss of €6.5 million in the same period last year.
