Two of Poland’s main industry regulators – the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) and the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UoKiK) – have acted against companies for very different transgressions of the law.
Based on a violation of the Radio and TV Law, the KRRiT has fined the public broadcaster TVP PLN5,000 (€1,189) for transmitting a programme that “undermined the religious feelings of Catholics, and contrary to the moral a social good.”
This followed a number of complaints, including one from a parliamentary deputy.
Meanwhile, the UKE has fined a company named New Generation DR PLN1,942 for requiring customers to waive their consumer rights after providing them with reception equipment for the former DTH platform n.
