UPC Romania’s revenues in the second quarter were up by over 5% on the same period in 2012.
According to the Liberty Global-owned operator, they amounted to $34.3 million (€25.8 million), as opposed to $32.6 million.
However, in local currency terms the increase was a more modest 2.6%, up from RON112 million to RON115 million over the same period.
Half-year revenues meanwhile rose by 4.4% in dollar terms to $68.9 million and 3.2% in lei to RON230 million.
UPC Romania ended the second quarter with a total of 1.1537 million subscribers to its services. Severina Pascu, the operator’s MD, said that it is continuing to focus on expanding the coverage of its Fiber Power 150 Mbps offer and offering new services in areas where UPC Romania is already present.
Significantly, HD services are becoming increasingly popular among UPC Romania subscribers.
At least three have been offered in its standard subscription since October 1, 2012, and as of the end of Q2 almost 54,000 chose to pay an additional fee to receive up to 21 channels in the format.
The latter figure represented over 12% of UPC Digital’s total digital TV customer base.
