The new look Universal Channel will make its debut in the UK and Ireland on August 5th.
The latest evolution of the channel’s on air positioning centres around the tagline “100% Characters.”
Lee Raftery, EVP, marketing, NBCUniversal International Television, said: “We arrived at our unique positioning because we believe that great characters are the magnets that draw viewers back to their favorite shows – week after week. Universal Channel’s new logo, look and ‘100% Characters’ tagline are simple and intuitive enabling us to connect with the hearts and minds of our audiences, everywhere, and maximize the potential of this global entertainment brand.”
The UK premiere of Bates Motel, the critically acclaimed prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s genre-defining film, Psycho, will take centre stage in the new-look Universal Channel schedule this September – joining a mix of UK premieres such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Major Crimes, Royal Pains and Rookie Blue. Starring Academy Award nominee Vera Farmiga as Norman’s devoted yet overbearing mother, Norma, and award-winning young British actor Freddie Highmore as Norman, Bates Motel launched on A & E Network earlier this year to become one of the must-see new US dramas of 2013.
