BBC Worldwide has concluded a deal for over 300 hours of BBC Earth content to be shown as part of a BBC Earth branded block available on the new free-to-air channel ProSieben Maxx in Germany.
The channel is due to launch on Tuesday, September 3.
The BBC Earth block will air on the channel twice a day on weekdays, daytime and access prime time, starting from September 4. There will also be additional two- and three-hour-long prime time highlights shows on selected Saturdays.
“Securing a BBC Earth block on the free-to-air channel ProSieben Maxx highlights our long-standing partner’s commitment to our programming, and to our natural history and science output,” said Isabelle Helle, Head of German Speaking Europe, BBC Worldwide.
“It is a key part of our strategy to bring the highest-quality content and the BBC Earth brand to wider audiences in Germany. I am confident that it will be popular with the viewers, many of whom will get to experience inspiring landmark programming from BBC Earth for the first time.”
René Carl, Head of ProSieben Maxx, added: “I am really looking forward to the strategic partnership with BBC Worldwide. With outstanding and spectacular productions like Life Below Zero or Deadly 60, the BBC Earth brand is a perfect fit for the high-quality content ProSieben Maxx stands for.”
ProSieben Maxx will be available to more than 60% of German households via cable, satellite and IPTV.
