Dutch cablenet Ziggo is preparing to ramp up its customer offer with new investment in Wi-Fi hotspots and a new MVNO-based mobile offering.
Ziggo WifiSpots with 850,000 hotspots across the Netherlands are slated to be activated in August with the MVNO offer added later in the year.
In the company’s second quarter results All-in-1 bundles subscribers grew by 20,000, an increase of 7.1% on the year. Internet subscribers up 20,000 in Q2, representing 1.1% quarterly growth and 4.6% on the year. However, telephony usage revenue was down 5.2%.
Digital pay-TV revenues increased by 1%; another 150,000 set-tops have been upgraded to run interactive features following the agreement with ActiveVideo Networks earluer this year.
“While in consumer markets RGUs and revenue growth came in below our expectations, we were pleased to see continued strong organic revenue growth in our B2B operations. On top of that we benefited from a first contribution from our acquisition Esprit Telecom,” commented CEO CEO Bernard Dijkhuizen.
Revenues were up 1.4% year on year to €391.9 million; Net profit increased to €88.9 million, from €64.4 million in Q2 2012.
