Telekom Austria is targeting more acquisitions in South Eastern Europe, according to Hannes Amtesreiter, the company’s CEO.
In a wide-ranging interview with Wirtschaftsblatt, Amtesreiter said that the Croatian alternative carrier H1 Telekom is of interest, as is Serbia Broadband (SBB), currently backed by Mid Europa Partners (MEP), in neighbouring Serbia.
When asked about the possibility of buying a merged SBB and Telemach for up to €800 million, Amtesreiter said he will only talk about financing once suitable targets are identified.
Amtesreiter added that Telekom Austria would continue in the direction of convergence and has the chance to become not only the biggest player in South East Europe but also the most integrated provider in the region.
Telekom Austria’s interests currently include Vipnet, a leading Croatian mobile company and also owner of B.net, the country’s leading cable operator.
