BBC World News is now available free-to-air across major parts of Germany after cablenet Kabel Deutschland switched off encryption for the channel.
Under a new agreement all digital subscribers will have access to the commercial news service that will now be available in more than 35 million households in Germany including Munich, Hamburg and Bremen.
Colin Lawrence, distribution director, BBC World News said: “Germany is an incredibly important market for both BBC World News and BBC.com and this extension of our relationship with KD is a significant step forward for the business.”
KDG operates cable networks in 13 German federal states and supplies its services to approximately 8.5 million connected households.
