Poland’s National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) has fined Telestar, the operator of the interactive channel iTV, PLN100,000 (€23,248) for repeatedly showing commercials with pornographic content.
According to the KRRiT, this violated the law on radio and television and the protection of minors.
The commercials in question were shown last September by iTV, which is distributed by the DTH platforms Cyfrowy Polsat and nc+, as well as the leading cable operators UPC Polska, Multimedia Polska, Vectra and Toya.
Telestar launched Telestar in June 2003. It is on air for 24 hours daily, with live programming accounting for almost two-thirds (15 hours) of the total.
