Cloud-based TV service Magine has opened its full Beta service in Spain and invited viewers to sign up on its website.
International media groups Chello Multicanal, Viacom Spain, Cosmopolitan and National Geographic Channel Spain are amongst the first to sign up for the Beta version of the Magine OTT service.
“The Spanish marketplace is an ideal one for Magine, as it enjoys high broadband penetration with a relatively low pay tv penetration. When combining those two factors the Magine solution seemed an obvious one to the Spanish channels and content providers who were keen to be part of a service that offered their viewers a highly competitive subscription package,” commented Mattias Hjelmstedt, CEO and co-founder Magine.
Magine is a subscription service that combines cloud-based live TV, catch-up, start-over and on-demand programming all in the same place and across all devices. It is not TV through a new device, but a TV service that is cloud-based and DRM protected.
In Sweden Magine hosts some of the world’s best known brands and channels such as Discovery, CNN International, BBC, Eurosport, National Geographic, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network as well as home national broadcasters SVT and TV4.
The company is in advanced negotiations with a number of other major international media and entertainment groups and predicts that the platform will be available in at least five countries by the end of the year.
