Autentic launches Spark in South Africa

July 3, 2013 15.06 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Autentic has enlarged its channel portfolio and launched the new factual entertainment network Spa orkn South Africa’s ODM-PayTV-platform.

Spark has exclusive access to the vast factual library of Autentic and ZDF Enterprises and is aired 24-hours a day in SD/HD. Spark shows a broad spectrum of documentaries ranging from nature, environment and wildlife to history and archaeology from travel and adventure to programs about discoverers and discoveries, and to ecological and technical topics.

“Our goal is to offer top-notch entertainment for all family members,” said Autentic CEO Patrick Hoerl. “The partnership between Autentic and ZDF Enterprises provides a tremendous output of world class original productions. We strongly believe that there is a lot of interest for high quality factual programming throughout the world. Our next step is to expand SPARK to territories in Eastern Europe and Asia.”

“We are very proud to be the major program supplier for this exciting new venture. This is a very interesting and innovative way to distribute our product.” added Alexander Coridass, President and CEO of ZDF Enterprises.

Munich-based Autentic already operates several special-interest channels in Africa and Europe, among them Spiegel Geschichte (history) and Spiegel TV Wissen (science) in Germany and Austria as well as channels on South Africa’s ODM-PayTV-platform TopTV. The factual entertainment label is a joint venture of Beta Film and Patrick Hoerl.
