Double play is the best bundling option for cable operators in Lithuania due to the country’s shrinking fixed-line telephony market.
It is also one that is being taken by Init, one of the leading players.
Speaking in a presentation about bundled offerings, Laima Zivatkauskaite, Init’s marketing director, said there are 732,000 pay-TV subscribers, of which 435,000 opt for cable.
Init accounts for 120,000 of the latter, as well as 24,000 of Lithuania’s 1,070,000 internet subscribers.
Zivatkauskaite added that the incumbent telco Teo accounts for 89.6% of fixed-line telephony subscribers and cable operators only 2.4%.
Paulus Zivatkauskas, the president of Init, meanwhile said in an earlier presentation that the operator still has an analogue offer despite its thematic digital offer consisting of over 15 packages.
He was also of the view that although it is still early days for OTT in Lithuania, it is a direction that should be taken.
