Magyar Telekom’s T-Home remains the leading provider of fixed broadband internet in Hungary, claiming a 35.2% market share, according to preliminary data published by the regulator NMHH.
UPC was in second place with 21.9%, followed by Digi (13.8%), Invitel (9.6%), Tarr (2.6%) and PR Telekom (2.2%).
The total number of cable internet connection in May, based on data from players covering 82.8% of the market, was 904,659, while the DOCSIS 3.0 and FTTx figures were 316,175 and 335,866 respectively.
At the same time, there were 765,865 xDSL connections, based on players covering 98% of the market.
Separately, the NMHH has fined TV2, Hungary’s leading broadcaster, HUF300,000 (€1,000) for what it calls illegal and surreptitious advertising.
