Eurosport comes to Samsung smart TV

June 25, 2013 11.45 Europe/London By Robert Briel

image001 copySamsung is launching the Eurosport Player in 40 territories.

The new sporting app will give people access to over 5,000 hours of live sport every year including coverage from the Tour de France, World Championship Athletics, tennis Grand Slams, The Australian, French and US Open, Africa Cup of Nations and the full 2013/14 wintersports season.

Guy Kinnell, Head of TV and AV at Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland, commented: “According to our recently released ‘Samsung Futures: The Future of Smart TV’ report one in 10 people in the UK1 are more likely to watch sport on TV than go to an event. With rising ticket prices across sport, having the Eurosport TV App on our platform ensures live sport is part of the viewing experience that we can offer on Smart TVs and we’re thrilled to be providing our customers with the best range of sporting content via our award winning Smart TV range.”

“Eurosport has been delivering innovative programming for many years; ensuring sports fans get the best live sports experience possible. We are very proud to be able to bring our services onto Samsung Smart TV and look forward to introducing viewers to a more dynamic and engaging viewing experience,” addedd Arnaud Maillard, Eurosport’s Director of Internet & New Media.

Eurosport Player is available to download from Samsung TV Apps Store in 40 European countries and 13 languages: German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Dutch, English, Danish, Romanian, Russian, Swedish, Czech, Finnish and Norwegian.
