A privatisation plan for Telekom Srbija is likely to be announced later this month, with an international tender set to be held in September and a sale completed by the end of the year.
According to the local press, the company’s improved financial performance, which resulted in its net income almost doubling in 2012, could result in the sale of a 100% stake raising up to €2 billion.
Informal talks have apparently already taken place with potential buyers from the US, Russia, Germany, Austria and Abu Dhabi.
Greece’s OTE held a 20% stake in Telekom Srbija until the beginning of 2012, when it was bought back by the Serbian telco for €380 million.
The telco is currently majority (58.11%) owned by the Republic of Serbia, with Telekom Srbija (20%), Citizens of the Republic of Serbia (14.95%) and Telekom Srbija and legal predecessor and former employees (6.94%) holding the remaining shares.
