The Dutch VOD service Pathé Thuis has signed its fist deal with a cable operator, CAIWay.
The medium sized cable operator serves around 143,000 TV customers and has no VOD of its own. Larger cablenets, such as UPC and Ziggo, have their own VOD service.
Until now, Pathé Thuis was only available as on OTT service on connected devices, such as connected smart TVs from LG, Philips, Panasonic and Samsung, on iPads and on Microsoft Xbox 360. The company is now also preparing a launch on Android tablets.
Pathé offers on-demand movies on a trasactional basis, but is studying S-VOD options in order to face the expected launch of Netflix in the Netherlands sometime later this year. The platform had 185,000 regiestered user as per April, 2013.
