Speaking to the local media he said that in the future the screen, rather than the device, would be important. Ducarroz was speaking within the context of the upcoming launch of the Orange TV DTH platform in the country.
Although initially available only on PCs and TVs, it should also be accessible via smartphones and tablets this autumn, with the company’s aim being to make it viewable on “all available screens”.
Significantly, Ducarroz also said that Orange had no plans to produce its own content for the platform, as has been the case at services operated by RCS&RDS and Romtelelecom.
Instead, it will acquire content and make it available on all screens.
The Orange platform will make its debut this month, employing services provided by GlobeCast and SES, and enter a market already served by four other DTH services, namely Digi TV, Dolce, Focus Sat and the recently launched Freesat.
