Jonathan Thompson has been appointed as the new chief executive of Digital UK.
Set up to oversee the UK’s digital switchover, with an emphasis on DTT, the organization is now responsible for strategy and policy, as well as handling the day-to-day technical management of the electronic programme guide.
It is currently overseeing clearance of terrestrial TV services from the 800MHz band of spectrum to prepare for the launch of 4G mobile broadband services.
Thompson will succeed David Scott, Digital UK’s current CEO, who announced last month he was stepping down from the role.
A former Director of Strategy at both Ofcom and Channel 4, Thompson’s most recent role was at DMGT plc, advising on group strategy in both the UK and overseas. He will take up his new role at Digital UK in summer 2013.
