Larry King joins Russia Today

May 30, 2013 10.54 Europe/London By Julian Clover

larry-kingLarry King, the US interviewer who spent 25 years with CNN, is to join Russia Today (RT) to present a new political programme.

The Moscow-based international news channel will air Politics with Larry King and Larry King Now, which will be produced by Ora.tv, and recorded in RT America’s Washington studios,

“I have always been passionate about government and issues that impact the public, and I’m thrilled at the opportunity to talk politics with some of the most influential people in Washington and around the country,” says King.

Larry King Now – the  name a nod to his CNN show Larry King Live – will continue to feature on Hulu TV in the United States, which has carried the programme since July 2012.

King’s arrival on the sometimes-controversial RT is not without precedent. Another seasoned interviewer, Sir David Frost, joined Al Jazeera English at launch in November 2006 after a long career in the UK and US.
