Acetrax Movies has announced that it will be closing on June 21, as the service will be integrated into the Sky Go and Now TV services.
The film on-demand service Acetrax Movies will close from June 21, according to an email to registered users.
“We are writing to tell you that the service will close on Friday 21 June 2013,” reads the user email announcement. “Don’t worry, you can still watch movies you’ve already rented until this date and you may be able to keep movies you have purchased.”
Now displaying a notice on its website, the service is being integrated into Sky’s other on-demand services, Sky Go and Now TV. Acetrax was acquired by Sky in 2012.
“Having successfully integrated the Acetrax over-the-top technology and capability into our business, we are now managing down the small video-on-demand service still operating under the Acetrax brand,” said Sky in a statement.
“Once that process is complete, our OTT efforts will focus on Sky Go and Now TV, through which we continue to build leadership and scale in internet TV.”
The service is available on multiple connected TV platforms, including Philips, LG, Samsung, Panasonic and Toshiba.
