Hrvatski Telekom’s OTT service MAXtv to Go now has 40,000 customers, according to Nikola Francetic, the company’s director of content development.
Speaking at the Zagreb Business Breakfast, he added that the service offers linear channels and is driven by sporting events.
MaxTV Go to MATCH meanwhile has over 10,000 registered users and proves that there is a future for paid content on the web in Croatia.
Speakers at the event nevertheless conceded that piracy is a big problem in the country. Hravtski Telekom, for instance, has noted that it is getting lower returns on the mega hits it offers viewers on demand – something it does not see with more mainstream movies, which people are willing to pay for.
