Labox fuels Numericable growth

May 27, 2013 09.20 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Numericable la BoxFrench cable operator Numericable reported 1,647,000 customers at the end of the first quarter. This compared to 1.628 million at the end of December 2012 and 1.58 million at the end of March 2012.

The introduction of the cabler’s multiplay fibre product Labox proved to be a success, showing a growth of 39% to 177,0000. The operator’s fibre network passed 4.87 million homes by 31 March, compared to 4.79 million three months earlier.

Of the operator’s connected homes, 1,306,000 are multiple play subscribers, including 993,000 direct customers and 313,000 wholesale customers (Bouygues Telecom Dartybox). During the past year, the number of subscribers play multiple increased by 11.6%. There were 342,000 TV-only customers.

The operator reported revenue up 3.5% to EUR 225 million in the first quarter, compared to EUR 217 million in the year-earlier period thanks to strong customer additions, especially for fibre services.

The operator’s EBITDA grew by 1.7 percent to EUR 115 million over the same period, while Capex increased to EUR 58 million from EUR 54 million.
