Mike Fries to join TV Summit at ANGA COM 2013

Mike FriesMike Fries, president and CEO,Liberty Global, will join the TV Summit of the international exhibition and congress ANGA COM.

For the exhibition 450 exhibitor registrations from 36 countries have been received. The TV Summit kicks off the accompanying congress programme. The top-level podium discussion stands under the title “Networks and Content: Who pays the Bill?”. Besides other up-to-date media topics, it addresses the future distribution of added value between network operators and TV broadcasters.

Already before the confirmation of Mike Fries, Prof. Dr. Karola Wille (Chairwoman Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk), Conrad Albert (Managing Board ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG), Dr. Andreas Bereczky (Director Production ZDF), Dr. Adrian von Hammerstein (CEO Kabel Deutschland), Dietmar Schickel (Managing Director Tele Columbus) and Brian Sullivan (CEO Sky Deutschland) have approved their participation.

The following Broadband Summit focuses on “Growing Bandwidths, falling Prices: With how much Competition can a Market cope?” and therewith on very up-to-date question how the performance and price parameters on the broadband market will develop in the long run. Besides Wilhelm Dresselhaus (CEO Alcatel-Lucent Deutschland), Lutz Schüler (CEO Unitymedia Kabel BW) and Theo Weirich (Managing Director wilhelm.tel), for the first time Dr. Dirk Wössner (Managing Director Sales Telekom Deutschland), Thomas Ellerbeck (Managing Director Vodafone Deutschland) and Jean-François Leprince-Ringuet (CCO Eutelsat SA) will take part. The Federal Network Agency will be represented by its Vice President Dr. Iris Henseler-Unger.

The English language International Technology Summit on the second day of the event has the headline “Fibre vs. LTE: Potentials and Borderlines” and deals with the competition between fixed and wireless networks. Speakers of the international podium discussion are: Nick Fielibert (Cisco), Lorenz Glatz (Kabel Deutschland), Daniel Howard (SCTE USA), Bruce McClelland (Arris), Jørgen Michaelsen (YouSee), Hanno Narjus (Teleste) and Dr. Giles Wilson (Ericsson).

The third day of the congress is summarized under the heading “Connected Home Special” and will be developed as a B2B platform for the future topic connected home. This day is organized in cooperation with the Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media (BITKOM). It includes 7 panels altogether, thereof 3 in English language. Highlight of this day is the top-class Connected Home Summit with Dirk Brameier (EWE TEL), Thomas Braun (ANGA e.V.), Christian P. Illek (Microsoft), Jens Redmer (Google), Dr. André Schneider (Samsung), Volker Smid (Hewlett Packard and Vice President BITKOM) and Martin Wiegmann (Cisco).

ANGA Managing Director Dr. Peter Charissé: “Our exhibition hall is fully booked. Around broadband and TV, our visitors can expect an ideal combination of international suppliers and experts from medium-sized businesses. With the topics bandwidth development and carriage fees our congress programme could hardly be more up-to-date.”
