Canal+ Group saw a 4.4% revenue increase in the first quarter, boosted by the integration of the D8 and D17 free-to-air channels in France and the ‘n’ platform in Poland.
However, the global economic environment led to a sharp decline in advertising revenues, and it was largely the overseas territories of Africa and Vietnam that pushed total subscription numbers up by 285,000 year-on-year.
Canal+ Group’s EBITA was €190 million, excluding €7 million transition costs related to the integration of the new businesses. Canal+ Group’s revenues were €1,286 million.
Canal+ France has renewed the rights to the English Premier League and entered into a licensing agreement with HBO covering the French broadcast from the channel for the next five years.
